About The Position

Founded in 1891, The Trustees of Reservations is Massachusetts' premier conservation and preservation organization. The Trustees’ preserves properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value for public use and enjoyment. As a Seasonal Campground Ranger at Tully Lake, you will contribute to The Trustees’ mission by caring for this quaint, special campground and fostering a camping experience that visitors will remember for years to come. You will execute the daily operations and maintenance of Tully Lake Campground and its primitive camp spots, as well as retail and recreational operations. The Campground Rangers are frontline representatives for the campground and The Trustees, interacting with campers to ensure a safe and positive visitor experience.

Requirements

  • A background in education, or a passion for sharing knowledge will be key.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in all elements including heat, cold, wind and rain
  • A personal enjoyment of working with the natural world
  • The ability to work without supervision
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed
  • Basic computer and database aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs
  • Work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Able to properly respond to a variety of situations involving different visitors
  • Must be able to assist visitors with carrying canoes to boat launch
  • Able to care for property maintenance as needed
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.

Nice To Haves

  • Training, education or experience in recreation management, hospitality or related field and considerable work experience which involved significant direct contact with the public preferred.
  • Experience or training in recreation management and a desire to work with the public is desired

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and positive experience as a customer-facing representative of the campground and the Trustees
  • Professionally execute reservation and point of sale transactions; including answering questions, relaying pertinent information, and delivery of equipment rental services
  • Assist campers to find their sites, orient to nearby attractions, and respond to customer questions or requests.
  • Regular cleaning of campsites after use, as well as regular cleaning of common areas (restroom facilities, campground trails, parking areas, etc.)
  • Patrol Campground regularly to positively interact with campers and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations.
  • Promote Trustees mission and membership to campground visitors.
  • Provide basic interpretive information to campers regarding plants, animals, ecology, etc.
  • Answer camper questions concerning The Trustees, campground, trails, etc.
  • Perform simple and routine maintenance work on the grounds.
