About The Position

The Seamstress/Tailor supports Buckle’s mission to create an enjoyable shopping experience by performing in-store merchandise alterations, including hemming jeans and pants. The role includes completing alterations according to Guest specifications and ticket instructions, meeting deadlines and productivity guidelines, and providing quality service. The Teammate uses Buckle-provided sewing equipment and supplies, keeps the work area organized, records alterations, and communicates relevant concerns to store leadership. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related sewing, fitting, and alteration experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and the day of or day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, based on store and business needs.
Physical ability to lift and maneuver 25 pounds throughout the store and backroom.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the job, including standing, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, climbing or balancing, jumping, talking, hearing, and occasionally sitting.
Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Perform quality alterations on merchandise at the store, including hemming jeans and pants.
Follow ticket instructions and markings based on Guest specifications.
Accommodate on-the-spot alterations when requested by Store Leaders.
Meet alteration deadlines and Guest expectations.
Measure and mark alteration lines; pin folds or mark fabric at seams.
Remove stitches and resew merchandise by hand or sewing machine.
Press merchandise using a hand iron or steamer; repair defective merchandise and remove spots or stains.
Record completed work, required alterations, instructions, and information in the alteration log.
Meet specified productivity guidelines, generally four jean alterations per hour.
Maintain a clean, organized, stocked work area and notify a Leader when supplies are needed.
Remain open to review of work that needs to be redone.
Report policy violations promptly and confidentially to the Store Manager, District Manager, and/or Human Resources.
Provide store leaders with feedback about merchandise-handling concerns.
Understand and follow Buckle’s Code of Ethics, policies, procedures, and handbook.
Contribute to a positive team spirit and fulfill the company mission through customer service.
Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
