About The Position

This role involves providing operational support and directing workflow for a team performing routine tasks to meet daily schedule requirements. The Seamer Operator Coordinator will operate semi-complex equipment and machines, prioritize routine tasks, and adjust multiple variables to resolve production problems. This position also requires contributing data to production plans, running reports, checking accuracy, and sharing information. The coordinator will assign work to others to speed up workflow and ensure high-priority tasks are completed. A key aspect of this role is ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) policies, identifying and mitigating risks, and training the team in safe working methods. Additionally, the role includes carrying out inspections of finished and unfinished goods, examining surface areas and welds for defects, and the ability to work in confined spaces. Specific tasks include setting up, adjusting, and operating equipment safely and efficiently, as well as performing various finishing processes on tanks and bottles such as flapping, blending, grinding, and deburring welds.

Requirements

  • Sets-up and operates production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery.
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specification, accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to read, interpret and apply blueprints, weld symbols and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment prior to beginning work to ensure it is in safe operating condition and that required preventative maintenance checks have been completed.
  • Provide operational support services and direct workflow for the area of responsibility to meet performance standards.
  • Operate semi-complex equipment and machines, prioritizing routine tasks to improve efficiency and adjusting multiple related variables to resolve production problems.
  • Contribute data and information to production plans, run reports, check accuracy, and share information.

  • Carry out standard activities under detailed guidance and troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.

  • Follow the organization's Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace, and safeguard the environment.
  • Train the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and escalate serious issues as appropriate.
  • Carry out inspections of finished and unfinished goods to a standard and other quality assurance tasks, as needed.
  • Examine all surface areas and welds to detect defects.
  • Work in a confined space.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate equipment in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner to produce required parts.
  • Flap and blend weld burns on the exterior and interior of tanks using electrical and pneumatic shop tools.
  • Grind welds, deburr rough metal, and produce various finishes on metal.
  • Stone grind, peen, belt, flap, and blend seams on the inside of the bottle using pneumatic shop tools.
