About The Position

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with primary seafood processing operations and fleet support in twelve Alaska communities. Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Trident employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide each year and partners with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crewmembers. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide. SUMMARY Processes seafood product by performing the following duties: Note: Seafood Processors residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of fifteen dollars per day for room and board, for each day that at least eight hours of work is offered.

Requirements

  • Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
  • No experience in this particular field is necessary, but a reliable work history is required.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentence. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the seafood industry, food processing, agriculture, field work, or production/manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, scraps, trims and fillets product.
  • Opens and removes raw materials and places on belts.
  • Segregates product on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size, and places product in containers or on designated conveyors.
  • Discards cull (inferior or defective) items and foreign matter.
  • Packs product in boxes, barrels, baskets, cans, totes or crates for storage or shipment.
  • Operates machine(s) to move live or packed seafood from place to place.
  • Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Acquire knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.
  • Employees working in Alaska are advised to have medical insurance coverage which is valid in the State of Alaska.
