About The Position

ZipStaff is hiring an SDET Automation Engineer for a major U.S. passenger rail transportation organization based in Washington, DC. This onsite, 11-month W2 contract role will lead the design, development, and scaling of enterprise test automation frameworks across web, mobile, and API environments. The position drives shift-left quality practices and integrates automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

At least 10 years of experience in software test automation, framework engineering, and QA.
Advanced Java, Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber (BDD), TestNG, and WebdriverIO skills.
Hands-on mobile automation experience on Android and iOS using Appium, XCTest/XCUITest, AVD, and Xcode.
API testing and data validation experience with REST Assured, JSON/GSON, complex SQL, and stored procedures.
Knowledge of ADA/Section 508 accessibility, cross-browser testing, Charles Proxy, and PCI vulnerability testing.
Experience integrating tests into Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions and cloud test environments.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable, modular UI, mobile, and API automation frameworks for native, hybrid, and web applications.
Author and execute test plans for functional, integration, regression, load, and performance testing.
Embed automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure with automated quality gates.
Manage defects in Jira and develop automation reporting, Kibana dashboards, and BDD metrics.
Partner with DevOps, SRE, and development teams to advance shift-left testing and QA standards.
