About The Position

The Scrum Master is accountable for establishing Scrum as defined in the Scrum Guide and ensuring the Scrum Team's effectiveness. This role ensures that Scrum Events are held in accordance with the organization's cadence, including Sprint Planning, the Daily Scrum, and the Sprint Review. The Scrum Master owns the Sprint Retrospective, using it as an avenue to imbue the Scrum Team with lean thinking and agile practices, and applying empiricism to learn from recent mistakes. Additionally, the Scrum Master ensures the Product Backlog is a clear display of the work awaiting the team, maintains transparency regarding the team's progress, and manages a list of Impediments/Dysfunctions, taking action when appropriate.

Requirements

Must be either an Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or a Certified Scrum Professional (CSP).
Must have at least 3 years of fully dedicated experience, in Lean and Agile engagements, including at least one year in Scrum and at least one year in Kanban.
Must be a disciple of Lean / Agile thinking, and their associated systems of delivery.

Responsibilities

Accountable for establishing Scrum as defined in the Scrum Guide.
Accountable for the Scrum Team's effectiveness.
Ensure Scrum Events are held in accordance with the organization's cadence.
Ensure that Sprint Planning, the Daily Scrum and the Sprint Review occur per cadence, and if necessary, personally facilitate.
Own the Sprint Retrospective.
Use the Sprint Retrospective as an avenue to imbue the Scrum Team with lean thinking, agile practices.
Apply empiricism to learn from recent mistakes.
Make sure the Product Backlog is a prima facia display of the work that awaits the team.
Apply a sharp eye toward the various types of Flow Items, to ensure transparency toward what the team has done, what they are doing, and what awaits them.
Maintain a list of Impediments / Dysfunctions and, when the time is right, take action.
