About The Position

This is a hybrid opening for a Scrum Master in Tempe, AZ. The role requires the candidate to be local to Arizona, possessing an Arizona ID, and residing within a 40-mile commuting distance to Tempe. A key requirement is prior experience within the Utility Sector or with a utility client. The Scrum Master will facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, support backlog management, track team metrics using Azure DevOps, coach team members on Agile principles, and remove impediments. They will also serve as a liaison between the project team and stakeholders, manage risks and issues, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to handle project dependencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in software development environments.
  • Certification: Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and servant leadership principles.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (or similar Agile project management tools).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and maintain high standards of documentation and deliverables.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Must have Utility Sector/Client Experience.
  • Local to AZ, with AZ ID only.
  • Local candidate to Tempe or within 40 miles commutable distance.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in system modernization, legacy replacement, or consolidation projects.
  • Familiarity with SRP water/flood irrigation systems or experience in the utility sector.
  • Exposure to scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS).
  • Experience with third-party system integrations.
  • Knowledge of Team Data Science Process (TDSP) in an Agile environment.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake).

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives).
  • Support backlog grooming, prioritization, and sprint planning.
  • Track metrics such as velocity, burndown, and team capacity using Azure DevOps.
  • Coach team members on Agile principles and best practices.
  • Identify and remove impediments, escalating when needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the project team and stakeholders.
  • Ensure risks, issues, and scope changes are communicated and managed.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies across projects.
