Scrub Assistant, Full-Time, Days
About The Position
The Scrub Assistant demonstrates Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values through behavior. Under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and Endoscopy physician, the Scrub Tech I performs duties to assist in the care of Endoscopy patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Duties include assisting physicians with procedures, ordering supplies, scheduling cases, managing scopes, cleaning and reprocessing Endoscopes and Bronchoscopes, preparing equipment and supplies, assisting with ambulation, measuring vital signs and blood glucose, and transporting.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- BLS certification required.
- No previous experience required.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with Endoscopy procedures.
- Prepare equipment and supplies for Endoscopy procedures.
- Clean, disinfect and store Endoscopes and Bronchoscopes.
- Report patient changes, problems, complaints or requests to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with specimen collection, labeling, ordering and transport.
- Use Endoscopy equipment and supplies properly.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of Endoscopy Infection Control Standards.
