Scrub Assistant, Full-Time, Days
About The Position
The Scrub Assistant demonstrates Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision, and values through their behavior. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and the Endoscopy physician, the scrub tech I performs duties supporting the care of Endoscopy patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Duties include assisting physicians with procedures; ordering supplies and scheduling cases; managing, cleaning, disinfecting, reprocessing, and storing Endoscopes and Bronchoscopes; preparing equipment and supplies; assisting with ambulation; measuring vital signs and blood glucose; and transporting patients or items.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- BLS required.
- No previous experience required.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with Endoscopy procedures.
- Prepare equipment and supplies for Endoscopy procedures.
- Clean, disinfect, and store Endoscopes and Bronchoscopes.
- Report patient changes, problems, complaints, or requests to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with specimen collection, labeling, ordering, and transport.
- Demonstrate knowledge and proper use of Endoscopy equipment and supplies.
- Apply knowledge and understanding of Endoscopy Infection Control Standards.
- Order supplies and schedule cases.
- Assist with patient ambulation, measure vital signs and blood glucose, and transport.
