Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in basic math such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 ft. bars (60 pounds max.).
  • Ability to stand 75% of the shift.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Prior lathe experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to use calipers and micrometer.

Responsibilities

  • Operates one or more, typically two, six spindle screw machines.
  • Bench sets collets, feed tubes, feed fingers, drills, and cross side tools.
  • Changes collets, bushings, and feed fingers in stock feeding mechanism.
  • Changes gears, stops, and cams (if necessary).
  • Inspects tools and compares to tool layout verifying all tools and tool holders using various gauges.
  • Adjusts tools to bring parts into conformance with print, submits first piece for inspection and starts machine.
  • Replaces worn tools and sharpens cut off blades.
  • Loads bar stock into bar feed mechanism.
  • Performs routine maintenance checks (lube level, cutting oil level, etc.).
  • Notifies Lead if tooling is getting low.
  • Keep machines and area clean and orderly.
  • Weigh parts accurately.
  • Empty and spin chips.
  • Notify lead person or technical advisor if job is not producing.
  • Fill out time slip completely and accurately.
  • Perform parts inspections in accordance with Quality Procedure
