About The Position

Didion Orf Recycling is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and versatile Scrap Yard Utility Operator for a hands-on role in a fast-paced industrial environment. The operator supports the efficient running of the scrap yard across Retail, Production, and Shipping & Receiving, moving between departments as operational needs change. The position involves operating skid steers and forklifts, handling recyclable materials, performing general labor, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating both skid steers and forklifts.
• Ability to safely and confidently operate equipment in an active industrial or yard environment.
• Willingness to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required by the position.
• Flexibility to work in different departments and adjust to changing daily priorities.
• Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a safety-first mindset.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, warehouse, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment.
• Experience loading and unloading trailers or handling various types of scrap metal.
• Familiarity with material sorting and scrap metal identification.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate skid steers and forklifts to move, load, unload, and organize recyclable materials.
• Assist retail operations by unloading customer materials, sorting scrap, and maintaining an organized work area.
• Support production by moving materials, preparing scrap for processing, and assisting with daily production needs.
• Assist Shipping & Receiving with loading and unloading trucks, organizing materials, and preparing outgoing shipments.
• Move between departments as needed to support changing operational priorities.
• Perform general labor duties, including sorting, stacking, cleaning, and organizing materials.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
