About The Position

The Men’s Basketball Scorekeeper operates the game clock, scoreboard, and scorebook to accurately record game activity and assists the game officials with the administration of scheduled league games. The Scorekeeper helps maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment for participants and follows department and facility policies and procedures.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age
Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Working knowledge of basketball rules and game procedures
Knowledge of Basketball Rules.
Ability to be professional and enforce rules.
Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members and the public.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, kneel, reach and manipulate objects, talk and/or hear.
This position requires mobility.
This position requires the employee to be able to project his/her voice so that participants can hear instructions.

Responsibilities

Operates the game clock, scoreboard, and scorebook accurately during scheduled league games.
Records points, fouls, timeouts, and other required game information.
Communicates with referees regarding the score, game clock, fouls, timeouts, and other game-related information.
Prepares and tests the scoreboard, clock, scorebook, and other required equipment prior to games.
Reports to assigned games on time and is prepared to perform assigned duties.
Assists game officials, participants, and team captains as appropriate and maintains a professional and positive experience.
Answers routine questions regarding game procedures and refers rule-related questions or disputes to the game official.
Notifies Parks & Recreation staff of facility needs, equipment problems, safety concerns, or other issues that arise.
Follows department and facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Reports player ejections, forfeits, incidents, accidents, or other significant issues to Parks & Recreation staff as required.
Responds appropriately to injuries or emergencies and provides first aid or CPR within the scope of current training, when appropriate.
