About The Position

This position works under the general direction and supervision of the JCC Maccabi Basketball Commissioner. The seasonal Basketball Scorekeeper/Clock Operator is responsible for operating the scoreboard and maintaining records of scheduled basketball games coordinated by the Commissioner.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must have a basic knowledge of basketball or the desire to learn the sport.
• Ability to see plays with sufficient clarity to maintain accurate scoring records.
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work indoors at a variety of playing sites.
• Ability to tolerate and work with exposure to loud noises.
• Must have great customer relations and communication skills as well as reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with teens is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Respond immediately and effectively to any emergency. Afterwards report emergency immediately to Commissioner and Venue Director, and file report.
• Record each point made be it through a scored point or penalty point.
• Adjust team scores in accordance with official’s decision.
• Keep track of possession arrow.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
• Responsible for keeping time by starting and stopping the clock.
• Responsible for keeping records of all fouls and player eligibility.
• Turn in paperwork and game results to designated supervisor.
• Communicate any problems or concerns to the Commissioner and Venus Director.
• Prepare facility before game and clean and take down all equipment after game.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
