About The Position

The Scientist supports the University of Miami’s research goals and objectives by conducting complex experiments and investigations in areas relevant to the employee’s specialty and interests. The role contributes to the scientific community and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field. The position is a full-time staff role at UHealth in Miami, Florida. Duties may vary according to departmental needs, and additional responsibilities may be assigned consistent with the position’s required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Requirements

Doctorate degree (PhD) required.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required.
Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Oversee research employees, students, and other relevant staff.
Author scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications.
Assist in developing training materials for research staff.
Plan experiments and record and analyze findings.
Prepare research proposals and funding applications.
Ensure activities comply with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.
Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
