About The Position

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Scientist III to join their Flow Technology department in Ridgefield, CT. This role involves designing and executing research for R&D and process development projects in both batch and flow technology. The scientist will perform laboratory and scale-up activities with minimal supervision, applying chemical engineering principles. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in a related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in a related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated successful independent chemistry laboratory and pilot scale experience.
  • Understanding of multiple technologies required for process scale up and API manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written forms in inter-disciplinary environments.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and complete experiments independently and efficiently.
  • Prepare data packages independently and interpret data accurately.
  • Propose and implement follow-up experiments to solve scientific problems independently.
  • Keep abreast of literature in own field.
  • Propose and explore new experimental protocols with supervision.
  • Effectively communicate own work in oral or written forms, discussing and presenting work concisely and accurately at group/project meetings.
  • Assist in supervising/training technicians and junior scientists when needed.
  • Demonstrate understanding of individual goals within the context of overall project goals.
  • Work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Utilize new technologies to improve productivity in the lab.
  • Familiarity with process modeling and its application to batch and continuous processes.
  • Understand process economics, timelines, environmental (green chemistry), and process safety issues.
  • Contribute to publications and patents.
  • Comply with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner.
  • Maintain proper records (notebook, binders, etc.) in accordance with SOPs and policies.
