About The Position

Illumina is seeking a highly motivated and talented experimental scientist to work on the validation of targets directly identified from human genetics. The company's leadership position in generating and analyzing human genetic data enables a unique human genetics-first approach to target discovery. This role is supported by a multidisciplinary team of experimental scientists, statistical geneticists, and deep learning engineers. The successful candidate will be a highly-skilled wet lab scientist executing experiments in the lab to support early discovery efforts. This involves performing cutting-edge molecular biology techniques to study a broad range of disease models using high-throughput functional genomics strategies in various cellular models, with a focus on identifying and validating therapeutic targets and next-generation biomarkers.

Requirements

Expert in molecular biology and cell culture techniques, with particular emphasis on cloning, high-throughput sequencing assays, single cell sequencing, CRISPR, cell culture, IPSC, and primary human cells.
Strong record of technical proficiency, innovation, and scientific rigor as demonstrated by publication in high-quality scientific journals.

Responsibilities

Perform and optimize techniques and systems for running high-throughput sequencing experiments in diverse cell types for target identification and validation.
Perform genetic perturbation experiments with CRISPR.
Validate quantitative cellular assays in cell lines and IPSC culture to credential novel targets.
Work closely with academic and clinical collaborators to integrate high-throughput sequencing assays to develop new target hypotheses.
Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
