About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Scientist/Engineer for its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Bowie, MD. This role involves applying principles of physics and engineering to government security-related products and projects. You will work as part of a team of problem solvers, delivering solutions based on best practices in physics, engineering, and other scientific fields. Team members are expected to have autonomy, self-confidence, initiative, and team spirit to seek answers on topics both within and outside their area of specialization. The position requires presenting testing results, analyses, and strategic recommendations to clients, analyzing data for process optimization, conducting rigorous product assessments (quality, durability, reliability, interoperability, security, and anti-tampering), supporting on-site testing at client sites, and managing product redesigns using a Stage Gate program management framework.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship and the possession of or ability to obtain a DoD security clearance to support our contracts with the U.S. Government
  • Ability to design and execute complex experiments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior problem-solving abilities
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to code data into appropriate graphical formats
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization programs such as PowerBI or others
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma concepts
