Scientist 3 Translational Medicine (Cardiovascular and Metabolism)

Roche•South San Francisco, CA
•$100,400 - $186,400•Onsite

About The Position

Genentech’s Translational Medicine OMNI (TM OMNI) Department supports research and development across Ophthalmology, Metabolism, Neuroscience, and Immunology. The department develops and implements biomarker strategies to study disease pathways, confirm therapeutic mechanisms of action, improve clinical trial efficiency and success, and conduct foundational clinical translational research into molecular and cellular pathways that may generate new targets and biomarkers. The Scientist 3 will join the Translational Medicine team at Genentech’s South San Francisco campus, supporting cardiovascular and metabolism (CVM) programs across stages of drug development and generating insights for future CVM drug targets. The role combines analysis and interpretation of -Omics datasets with wet-lab assay and experiment development. It is a hands-on, interdisciplinary role involving collaboration with scientists across R&D and external partners.

Requirements

  • PhD in Biological Sciences.
  • 0–6 years of experience in a postdoctoral or industry setting, with wet-lab and bioinformatics experience demonstrated in high-impact publications.
  • Experience and deep technical understanding of sample collection and processing and cellular or molecular laboratory techniques. Examples include cell culture, primary cell isolation from tissues, immunostaining, molecular biology, ELISA, western blot, genomic sequencing, qRT-PCR, and/or transcriptomics.
  • Programming experience using R or Python sufficient to run differential expression pipelines, perform pathway enrichment analysis, and generate compelling figures.
  • Ability to work independently to develop hypotheses, design experiments or studies, develop analysis plans, and interpret and present results.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and a passion for drug discovery and development.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
