About The Position

The CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism) Translational Biology group within Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) is seeking a highly motivated and well-trained individual to advance drug discovery research and development efforts by executing in vivo experiments in rodent models of cardiometabolic diseases. This position requires working closely with scientists in a multidisciplinary team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacology, biology, or related fields with 6+ years of laboratory experience, OR a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in industry or academia
  • A detail-oriented researcher who is passionate about leveraging best disease modeling to accelerate our research and discovery
  • Hands-on experience with cardiovascular models (myocardial infarction/ischemia–reperfusion, transverse aortic constriction) and their phenotyping (echocardiography, heart catheterization). Proficient survival surgical skills in rodents
  • Experience with rodent handling, various routes of drug administration (intravenous, intraperitoneal, intramuscular and subcutaneous), non-terminal and terminal blood sampling and tissue harvest.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Highly motivated, self-driven person, comfortable working independently or as team in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn new skills and rapidly adapt to changing priorities for multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other cardiometabolic disease models will be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and conduct experiments in relevant rodent models and optimize approaches to model disease processes and states which resemble human diseases
  • Generate high-quality experimental data to meet strict timelines and project goals.
  • Communicate key findings at project meetings and make recommendations for follow-up studies and prioritization.
  • Familiar with relevant scientific literature. Understand and apply relevant scientific knowledge to solving problems arising from the projects involved
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Generate, analyze, and document complex experimental data with a focus on high reproducibility, maintaining accurate Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) records.
