About The Position

The Scientific Project Leader pilots and coordinates sample management projects, ensuring communication with clients and internal teams, while planning resources and guaranteeing order delivery. They manage end-to-end client interactions (quotes, planning, execution, follow-up, closing) and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes to enhance the operational excellence of the department. Requirements

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong project leadership experience
  • Strong client orientation and external relationship management
  • Solid Lean management experience
  • In-depth expertise in sample management, with good knowledge of screening (DMTA), drug discovery, and automation processes
  • Confirmed scientific experience in a scientific field related to Drug Discovery (knowledge and expertise in laboratory robotics and automation is necessary)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to work cross-functionally and with interdisciplinary teams
  • Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Good understanding of laboratory processes and sample management workflows
  • Ability to evolve in a highly collaborative departmental model
  • Good command of English or French
  • Good communication, presentation, and client relationship management
  • PhD, Master II, or Engineering degree in Life Sciences or Chemistry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (specialized in screening, or management of compound libraries - biological samples)
  • Good knowledge of laboratory automation or robotics will be a plus
  • Experienced scientist with team management of technicians
  • Advanced English and French level

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of automation, data management, and IT tools (knowledge of Titian Mosaic is highly desired)
  • Project management expertise would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary point of contact for client interactions; collaborate with internal BD (Business Development) and CPS teams, as well as operational managers to meet client needs (from quote request to invoice preparation)
  • Define project scope, deliverables, deadlines, and resource needs with clients, and communicate these to internal teams
  • Manage project activity priorities and coordinate with team leaders
  • Implement, monitor, and manage project quality, SLAs, KPIs, and deliverables
  • Lead project team processes to ensure project profitability
  • Plan resource and skill needs
  • Manage interactions with team leaders to ensure resource availability to meet client demand
  • Manage cross-functional interactions with all Evotec departments and provide project guidance to ensure progress
  • Lead project teams to achieve objectives set by the client and the contract
  • Ensure and maintain good relationships with external clients
  • Contribute to, lead, or support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, accuracy, safety, and quality, which may benefit from Lean methodology tools
  • Propose scientific and technological improvements to optimize processes while maintaining cutting-edge standards
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments (key deliverables/milestones), internal and external resources, budget, and deadlines, while guaranteeing high scientific and technical quality
  • Guarantee reliable and timely data exchange between finance, project management, and operations teams to ensure effective financial monitoring and meet revenue expectations
  • Manage internal (reporting) and external communication, including responsibility for project-related client relationships, in coordination with business development, commercial partners, and Alliance Management when necessary
