About The Position

The Scientific Applications Specialist provides technical field support for existing and new products of VisualSonics and its ultra-high frequency ultrasound and photoacoustic technology. The Applications Specialist role is to be a subject matter expert in preclinical ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging. They will demonstrate the value of VisualSonics products through successful sales demonstrations, customer education and training. This is a US based travel position; however, some international travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Physics) preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in preclinical imaging, particularly with ultrasound and photoacoustic technology.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent knowledge in small animal anatomy and physiology.
  • In-depth knowledge in oncology, cardiology, and neurobiology.
  • Good understanding of genetics and molecular biology.
  • Proficient in using imaging software and analytical tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional international trips.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent scientific writing skills and good business sense.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales demonstrations of high-resolution ultrasound and photoacoustic equipment both at our Toronto-based training facility and at customer locations (travel involved), highlighting research-specific applications for prospective customers.
  • Travel to and participate in trade shows, conferences, and workshops as a subject matter expert on high-resolution ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging techniques and applications, showcasing the value and functionality of VisualSonics products.
  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for customers on the use of newly acquired equipment, both at our Toronto-based training facility and at customer locations (travel involved). Focus on imparting sonographic expertise to users who are new to preclinical ultrasound as an imaging modality.
  • Offer pre-installation and post-installation application support for high-resolution ultrasound and photoacoustic equipment, ensuring smooth setup and effective use of the technology in research applications.
  • Address and resolve customer satisfaction issues as assigned, responding to suggestions for improvements and enhancements to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver specialized and general presentations about products, applications, and new developments at customer sites, conferences, workshops, and virtually. Ensure clear communication of complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collect and provide user feedback for product development initiatives, enhancing future products and contributing to the development of new application-based functionalities.
  • Assist in evaluating new products where applicable and collaborate with the Product Management team to incorporate practical insights and improvements.
  • Develop comprehensive procedure manuals, training protocols, and scientific documents pertaining to all VisualSonics products, ensuring users have clear and accessible resources.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with research labs, developing new protocols and completing new experiments to advance the application of VisualSonics' technology.
  • Commit to developing extensive knowledge of VisualSonics products and their applications, staying current with advancements in the field and providing knowledgeable support to customers.
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers to maintain customer expectations, facilitate product sales, and support the sales process with product knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Provide valuable product feedback and suggest feature requests to Product Managers based on customer interactions and personal expertise, contributing to continuous product improvement.
  • Supply images and data to Marketing Managers to assist in the creation of compelling and relevant marketing content that highlights the benefits and applications of VisualSonics' products.
  • Work closely with customers to support the development, sales, support, and training of VisualSonics products, including demonstrating product value, providing technical support, and ensuring customers are well-versed in the use and benefits of the technology.
