About The Position

The Secondary Teacher delivers middle-school and high school-level instruction in a content area, preparing students for academic achievement, career readiness, and postsecondary success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate secondary subject-area endorsement, or eligibility for certification through the Michigan State Board of Education
• Satisfactory criminal background check

Nice To Haves

• Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.

Responsibilities

• Teach rigorous, standards-aligned courses in the assigned subject area
• Use assessment data to inform instruction and track student progress toward graduation requirements
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs across the classroom
• Build strong academic relationships with students and maintain a structured learning environment
• Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning and vertical alignment
• Communicate regularly with students, families, and counselors on progress and next steps
• Engage in professional development and continuous improvement of instructional practice
