About The Position

English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher at Bridge Academy West - Hamtramck, MI. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Academy Principal. Global Educational Excellence (GEE) operates a network of charter schools across Southeast Michigan focused on academic achievement and community. The ELL Teacher designs and delivers language acquisition support for students whose first language is not English, using evidence-based strategies to advance academic language proficiency and content access.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an ESL/ELL or Bilingual endorsement (NZ, NE, or equivalent) as defined by the Michigan State Board of Education
Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.
Satisfactory criminal background check

Responsibilities

Assess student language proficiency using WIDA screener and ACCESS assessments; maintain accurate progress records for all ELL students
Provide direct instruction, co-teaching, and push-in/pull-out language support aligned with WIDA standards
Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate content-area instruction for English learners
Identify and properly enroll students with Limited English Proficiency; maintain ELL program records per MDE requirements
Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community resources
Participate in Child Study Team meetings and professional development
