About The Position

The Science Teacher will provide an educational experience that promotes the optimum development of each student, enabling them to realize their maximum potential as contributing members of society. This role involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a program of study that caters to individual student needs, interests, and abilities, and creating a conducive learning environment. The teacher is responsible for preparing lessons, employing various instructional techniques, assessing student achievement, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the position requires fostering a positive classroom environment, protecting students and equipment, and collaborating with colleagues and parents.

  • Possess valid Kentucky Teaching Certification

Responsibilities

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plan program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the student.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of principal.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of the curriculum goal and establish clear objectives for all lessons to communicate the objectives to the student.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media in meeting the needs of the student.
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess student achievement on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Refer students to appropriate district staff for possible intervention services when necessary.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Be available to students and parents for conferences and at times outside the instructional day.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
