About The Position

We are looking for a talented School to Work - Purchasing student to join our team specializing in Purchasing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI. This role will primarily support the North American Steel Purchasing team. Not only will you provide valuable support to the purchasing team, but gain insight into manufacturing and the steel industry.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a "School to Work" program.
• Interest in Purchasing, manufacturing, and the steel industry.
• Familiarity with Oracle (or similar systems) is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with creating bid packages.
• Understanding of procurement processes.
• Basic knowledge of negotiation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Create Request for Quote bid packages to drive cost reduction activities.
• Support transition activities into Cummins processes.
• Maintain and update Oracle purchase orders.
• Research and create supplier add forms to expand and diversify the company’s supplier base.
• Assist with the requisition process for cross-functional teams.
• Provide support to Team members as needed.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date information in all tasks.
• Assist in the preparation and development of negotiations strategy.
