About The Position

Orange Elementary School is seeking an experienced, student-centered School Social Worker for the 2026-2027 school year, starting August 24, 2026. The role involves providing comprehensive social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health support to students. This includes collaborating with families, staff, and community partners to foster student success. The position requires a strong understanding of special education processes, Section 504, MTSS, and Connecticut special education regulations.

Requirements

Connecticut certification as a School Social Worker (071) required.
Current CT certification as School Social Worker (071) required.
Knowledge of special education processes, Section 504, MTSS, and Connecticut special education regulations.
Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience as a school social worker preferred.
Experience using CT-SEDS preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and small-group counseling to address students' social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
Respond to student crises and provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and follow-up support.
Participate as an active member of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team, assisting with intervention planning and progress monitoring.
Serve as a multidisciplinary team member for Planning and Placement Team (PPT) and Section 504 meetings, contributing to evaluations, eligibility discussions, and intervention planning.
Collaborate with administrators, teachers, school psychologists, related service providers, and families to develop and implement appropriate student supports.
Assist families in accessing community-based resources and services to address social, emotional, behavioral, and basic needs.
Maintain accurate documentation and complete required records and reports using CT-SEDS and other district systems.
Conduct social developmental histories, observations, and other assessments as appropriate.
Support a positive, inclusive school climate while promoting student attendance, engagement, and overall well-being.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services or designee.
