About The Position

Desert Choice Schools/Learn Academy is a certified K-12 Private Day School approved by the Arizona Department of Education to provide Special Education Services for students with various disability categories including Autism, Emotional Disability, Developmental Delay, Mild/Moderate Intellectual Disability, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impaired, Specific Learning Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visually Impaired, and Speech-Language Impairment. This management position offers an opportunity to work with a company that makes a difference in the lives of students with special needs. The Site Administrator will oversee and be part of a private special education day school team that partners with school districts to deliver high-quality services. The role involves supporting a team of School Psychologists, Special Education Teachers, and Behavior Technicians in clinical program implementation, curriculum/instruction, and Special Education services. The position is supported by an area manager and executive director, with several educators and technicians reporting to the Site Administrator. Learn Academy is a private special education day school that partners with Learn It Systems, a national education organization focused on helping children succeed. Requirements

  • Active and valid School Psychologist or Special Education Teaching Certificate by AZ state.
  • Experience working with emotional and/or behaviorally challenged students.
  • Must have the strength and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees).
  • Applicants must be presently eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience preferred.
  • PCMA certified is a plus but not required.
  • Collaborate and able to receive feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors.
  • Maintain a professional and clinical perspective at all times, able to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regards certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and be a part of a private special education day school team.
  • Support a team of School Psychologists, Special Education Teachers and Behavior Technicians in clinical program, curriculum/instruction, and Special Education services.
  • Provide oversight to clinical program implementation, classroom management, curriculum and instructional practices, Special Education compliance, hiring, succession planning and mentoring of employees.
  • Oversee several classrooms, each consisting of a special education teacher, one to three behavior technicians, and a school psychologist.
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with clients and districts.
  • Manage all Special Education meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all Special Education policies and procedures.
  • Consult with staff and district personnel.
  • Manage all enrollment and reintegration activities.
  • Provide professional development activities for employees.
  • Oversee staffing, including performance.
  • Assist HR with hiring needs.
  • Ensure effective communication with parents and all clientele.
  • Ensure instruction and curricular implementation is aligned with company values.
  • Provide general supervision of the program.
