About The Position

The School Security Officer is a front-line school safety role responsible for maintaining a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors at a school in Rockford, Illinois. The position is primarily a Monday–Friday day shift, with full-time and part-time positions mentioned. Pay is $17 per hour, and travel is not required.

The officer patrols school areas, monitors visitors and security cameras, responds to suspicious activity, assists the school community, documents incidents, and supports administrators during emergencies or disciplinary situations. The role may involve operating metal detectors and other security equipment. It requires remaining alert, communicating professionally, and handling stressful situations while working around groups of students.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 21 years old.
• Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
• 20-hour Illinois security training course certificate.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong observation skills.
• Good judgment under pressure.
• Professional communication skills.
• Ability to interact positively with students and staff.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• Physical stamina for standing and walking throughout the day.
