About The Position

Kenowa Hills Alpine Elementary is seeking a School Secretary to manage administrative tasks and support the school community. This role involves handling daily operations, communicating with parents, students, and staff, and maintaining schedules. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in computer systems. The secretary will work Monday through Friday, approximately 25 hours per week, for less than 44 weeks per year, with hours roughly from 10:40 AM to 3:40 PM. This is an in-person role requiring regular attendance at the school.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with the ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with parents, students & staff.
  • Ability to generate and manage a secondary class schedule.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proven confidentiality, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation via written or orally.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on group projects when necessary.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Excellent work attendance record.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of Power School and Microsoft programs.
  • This position is an in-person role and requires regular, on-site attendance at the assigned work location.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school day across classrooms and intervention spaces.
  • Ability to sit, bend, kneel, or work at student level during small group or individual instruction.
  • Ability to use hands and arms to operate instructional materials, technology, and assessment tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to support students with a range of academic needs, including students who may require redirection or support with engagement.
  • Must receive clearance from the Michigan State Police Department prior to employment.
  • Responsible for the background check fee.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Successful secretarial experience.
