About The Position

The School Secretary position at Alpine Elementary is a part-time role, working Monday through Friday from 10:30 am to 3:40 pm, totaling 4.75 hours per day. The pay rate is determined by the Board Authorized Support Staff Pay Schedule. This role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff, and maintain excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in Power School and Microsoft programs is essential, along with strong computer skills. The position is an in-person role requiring regular, on-site attendance, as the essential functions cannot be performed remotely. The work environment includes supporting students with various academic needs, implementing instructional strategies, and collaborating with teachers and intervention teams. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.

  • Proven confidentiality, strong analytical and problem solving skills are needed.
  • Must possess a sound knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation via written or orally.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on group projects when necessary.
  • The ability to work flexible hours and an excellent work attendance record is required.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of Power School and Microsoft programs.
  • This position is an in-person role and requires regular, on-site attendance at the assigned work location.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school day across classrooms and intervention spaces.
  • Ability to sit, bend, kneel, or work at student level during small group or individual instruction.
  • Ability to use hands and arms to operate instructional materials, technology, and assessment tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to support students with a range of academic needs, including students who may require redirection or support with engagement.
  • Ability to implement instructional strategies and interventions with consistency and fidelity.
  • Ability to monitor and respond to student needs in real time during instruction.
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and intervention teams to support student progress.
  • Selected candidate must receive clearance from the Michigan State Police Department prior to employment.
  • Candidate is responsible for the background check fee.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Successful secretarial experience.
