About The Position

Mason City Schools is seeking a substitute School Psychologist for the period of December 1st, 2026, to April 1st, 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for social/emotional assessment, student counseling, and consultation with parents and school-based teams to maximize student learning and welfare in a professionally sound, ethical, and effective manner.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist educational staff in implementing or modifying instructional strategies, classroom management procedures, intervention strategies and follow up activities.
• Assist staff in implementing a Response to Intervention model in order to identify and support students with varied needs.
• Conduct interviews, observations and administer psycho-educational evaluations to individual children identified as, or suspected of having a disability.
• Contribute to the multi-factored evaluation, utilizing diagnostic instruments and techniques appropriate for the areas of disability or suspected disability as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Compile the written report of the evaluation team and delineate the results of the psycho-educational evaluation for consideration in the development of the IEP for each child with a disability.
• Consult with teachers, parents and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of the children with disabilities to insure the provision of the most appropriate educational program.
• Other duties as assigned.
