About The Position

El Museo del Barrio seeks a highly organized and collaborative Coordinator, School Programs to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of K–12 learning initiatives connected to the Museum’s exhibitions and cultural mission. This role plays a central part in ensuring that school visits, classroom programs, and educator programs are executed with care, clarity, and professionalism, contributing to a welcoming and meaningful experience for students, teachers, and teaching artists. Working closely with the Manager of K–12 Learning & School Programs, the School Programs Coordinator will help manage day-to-day education program operations and support the development of systems that enable the growth and sustainability of school participation in El Museo del Barrio’s education projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Administration, Museum Studies, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in museum education, arts programming, or educational program coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in working with educators, students, and teaching artists.
  • Demonstrated interest in culturally responsive education and interdisciplinary arts learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in fast-paced program settings.
  • Background in Latinx, Latin American, Caribbean, or diasporic cultural contexts.

  • Spanish/English bilingual skills highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and communication for school visits, workshops, and educator programs.
  • Maintain program calendars, registration systems, and internal tracking processes that support effective planning and delivery.
  • Support the onboarding, scheduling, and coordination of teaching artists involved in school programs.
  • Prepare program materials, resources, and spaces in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact during school visits, ensuring smooth program flow and a positive experience for visiting groups.
  • Liaise with Visitor Services, Security, and other teams to support effective group management and gallery logistics.
  • Troubleshoot day-of operational issues and support teaching artists and educators as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of curriculum resources and educator materials related to exhibitions and learning initiatives.
  • Support program documentation, evaluation, and reporting processes.
  • Facilitate learning activities or program components as assigned.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of internal systems related to program scheduling, communication, and delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation and assist with data collection for reporting and assessment purposes.
  • Support cross-departmental coordination to ensure alignment between school programs and institutional priorities.
