About The Position

The School Nurse will provide direct care to students within the school. This role involves care management and coordination of care with other departments. The nurse must possess strong clinical and assessment skills. Pediatric experience is preferred, along with a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a high acuity area.

Requirements

• Hold a current Alabama License for Associate Degree in nursing (ADN), Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (BSN), or Practical Nursing (LPN)
• Clinical nursing skills necessary to provide safe care to students with special health care needs
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with administration, nursing supervisor, faculty, parents and students
• Possess current CPR certification
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in a high acuity area

Nice To Haves

• Clinical nursing experience with school age children in the hospital, community health or pediatric clinic
• Pediatric experience

Responsibilities

• Provision of school health services to students
• Serve as a liaison between the school, the medical community and other agencies involved in the health and welfare of students
• Provide direct care to students within the school
• Care management and coordination of care with other departments
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation of health services rendered
