School Nurse
About The Position
The School Nurse is a self-starter and an integral member of the educational system providing healthcare services for students. This position is responsible for the coordination of student health with teachers, families and the community. They are a resource for health promotion, health assessment and health instruction. They play a key role in providing age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner and identify and secure appropriate services in the planning and delivering of healthful and beneficial nursing care. They work in conjunction with the Storm Lake Community School District to provide nursing services for the district.
Requirements
- Current RN Iowa license
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- BLS Instructor certification within 12 months
Responsibilities
- Coordination of student health with teachers, families and the community.
- Health promotion, health assessment and health instruction.
- Providing age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner.
- Identifying and securing appropriate services in the planning and delivering of healthful and beneficial nursing care.
- Providing nursing services for the Storm Lake Community School District.
