About The Position

Focal Point Medical Staffing is seeking compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Registered Nurses (RNs) for an exciting contract opportunity with Wilson County Schools. These nurses will be assigned to elementary schools that serve students with special medical needs, ensuring their health and safety throughout the school day. This position will be a fill-in for current nurses as needed.

Requirements

Must have reliable transportation.
Must be on time, as tardiness cannot be a factor.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (LPN or RN).
Pediatric Care Experience is REQUIRED.
Current and unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of North Carolina.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
TB Test clearance.
Immunization records up to date, including COVID-19 and flu vaccines (if required by the school district).
Hep B Series
TDAP
Background check and drug screening required per Focal Point’s standard hiring process.
Ability to Commute: Wilson, NC (Required)
Pediatric Care : 1 year (Required)

Comfortable working with young children ages 3-15 years old.
Compassionate and patient demeanor when assisting students with special medical needs.

Responsibilities

Stay with the assigned student throughout the school day, assisting with daily medical needs.
Assist with meal feeding, including administering meals through feeding tubes.
Schedule and perform tracheostomy care as required throughout the school day.
Support students with feeding as needed.
Some students will require tracheostomy care every 10-15 minutes. This is considered a high-frequency need, and nurses must be fully prepared and comfortable handling this level of care.
