About The Position

Administer basic first aid and screen ill or injured students in accordance with State laws and District regulations; assist with health testing programs; prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and reports.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Basic First Aid and age-appropriate CPR techniques.
• Knowledge of Health and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of Record keeping techniques.
• Knowledge of Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
• Knowledge of Oral and written communications skills.
• Knowledge of Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
• Ability to administer first aid to ill or injured students.
• Ability to administer medicines and record properly.
• Ability to maintain files, records and reports.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to meet schedules and time lines.
• Ability to plan and organize work.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Graduation as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
• One year comprehensive nursing experience.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency.
• Valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
• Valid Kentucky Nursing License.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic first aid procedures and screen ill or injured students according to established procedures; utilize a variety of health products and supplies in caring for injuries and health needs.
• Administer first aid in emergency situations and notify administrator, parents or paramedics as necessary.
• Administer medicines to students.
• Schedule students for and assist with vision, hearing, scoliosis and dental screenings; schedule follow-up appointments if further testing is required.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of health records.
• Maintain the health office in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Operate office equipment.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
