About The Position
The School Nurse - RN position at Marshfield R-1 School District is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students. This role involves conducting medical screenings, managing communicable diseases, maintaining student health records, providing emergency nursing care, and acting as a health education resource. The nurse will also collaborate with medical personnel for immunization programs and ensure the confidentiality of student health information. This is a 170-day position with compensation based on the salary schedule.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Missouri.
- Knowledge of practices and procedures of the school district.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with students, faculty and general public in a diplomatic, friendly and efficient manner.
- CPR Certification.
Responsibilities
- Conducts medical case findings, screening, and referral activities related to health defects of selected students.
- Refers parents of pupils needing medical care or welfare assistance to appropriate private or community resources.
- Conducts a program to control communicable diseases in the school.
- Serves as a health education resource person to staff and students.
- Maintains a health record for each student.
- Provides emergency nursing service for ill or injured students at school.
- Assumes the responsibility for screening procedures.
- Assists medical personnel in immunization programs conducted at school.
- Maintains confidentiality of pertinent data/information.
- Performs other duties as required or directed by immediate supervisor.
- Provides superintendent with a copy of current state licensure and CPR certification.
