About The Position

Our Victory Learning Center Program is expanding with new classrooms opening in 2026. We are seeking a School Nurse (RN) to serve as an educator, advocate, liaison, and consultant on health-related issues for students, families, and staff. Our Victory Learning Center Programs offer specialized educational services for students diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental health diagnosis. We have two separate sites in Lackawanna, NY, with a third opening in September 2026. Our schools serve students ages 5-21, who are residentially placed or referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) NYS Licensure
  • AAS/BSN Degree from an accredited Nursing school
  • Minimum 2 years of experience

  • Sufficient strength to assist with lifting and transferring a patient, and perform CPR
  • Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas.
  • Sufficient hearing to hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages.
  • Sufficient vision to make physical assessments of patients and equipment.
  • Able to communicate in both verbal and written formats; and interact with clients, staff, and faculty supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct medical assessment of individuals.
  • Decide interventions following the nursing process.
  • Provide education on medical issues and concerns to individuals, their families and employees as indicated on their plan of care and diagnosis.
  • Monitor the medical states of the individuals of their care and adjust as appropriate.
  • Perform any other duties listed on the daily/weekly/monthly/semi-annually/annually site specific responsibility checklist.
  • Participates as the health specialist in the child education evaluation team to develop the health individualized educational plan. (I.E.P.)
  • Attends multi-disciplinary team meetings and staff meetings as directed by the principal.
  • Maintains all required health records per school regulation.
