About The Position

This is a Long Term Sub Position for the 2026-2027 School Year, with an anticipated start date of 08/24/2026 and an approximate end date in April 2027. This role involves developing and implementing health care plans, assessing student health needs, coordinating screenings, acting as a liaison between various stakeholders, managing health services, providing first aid and CPR, monitoring communicable diseases, conducting health assessments for special education programs, and promoting health through education.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree.
  • Washington RN license.
  • ESA Certification or eligibility for ESA Certification.
  • Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check.
  • Possess good communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse.
  • Ability to handle information and confidential matters in a professional manner.
  • Ability to learn and operate computers and software systems.
  • Ability to remain flexible to changing situations and prioritize duties.

Nice To Haves

  • School nursing experience and/or background in common pediatric and school health problems, community health, pediatric growth and development and handicapping conditions preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized health care plans and emergency action plans for students with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Assess student health needs and provide consultative, advisory and referral services to staff, parents and students.
  • Coordinate state mandated screenings for assigned school(s).
  • Act as a liaison between school personnel, student, family, community and health care providers.
  • Coordinate the administration and delegation of health services, including medication, health care procedures, and health room duties for assigned school(s).
  • Provide first aid and CPR.
  • Monitor communicable disease within schools and report to appropriate governmental agencies.
  • Conduct health assessments and write reports for special education and federally funded programs.
  • Provide staff training and education.
  • Promote health through individual and classroom teaching.
