About The Position

This posting will be used to fill various School Custodian II positions at Maui-Waena Intermediate. The advertised salary is $4,534.00 per month, based on full-time employment and including shortage and school year differentials, if applicable. The role involves cleaning and maintaining school buildings and grounds, moving furniture and supplies, performing basic repairs, and operating industrial cleaning equipment. The custodian may also oversee janitorial supplies and equipment and assist with inventories.

Requirements

Applicants may describe training or work experience in janitorial or related custodial work, grounds maintenance, or general laboring.

Nice To Haves

Training or work experience in sweeping, dusting, and cleaning buildings.
Grounds maintenance experience, including cleaning, watering, fertilizing, trimming, mowing, sweeping, or raking.
General laboring experience, such as moving materials, furniture, and equipment; loading and unloading trucks; carrying, unloading, and stacking tools and supplies; or digging trenches and ditches.

Responsibilities

Sweep and mop floors, hallways, stairways, and classrooms.
Wipe, dust, and polish furniture and metalwork.
Clean woodwork, walls, venetian blinds, electrical fixtures, windows, and other places that are not easily accessible.
Mop, clean, disinfect, and service lavatories and restrooms.
Clean water fountains and wash basins.
Water, rake, weed, and spread top soil on lawns; mow areas inaccessible to gang power mowers; and pick up rubbish, leaves, and other refuse.
Assist with trimming and pruning hedges, trees, and shrubbery.
Assist with planting and fertilizing shrubbery, grass, and flowers, and with propagating and transplanting young plants and shoots.
Move and transport heavy objects such as office and classroom furniture, benches, platforms, and refuse disposal barrels.
Load, unload, and distribute school and janitorial supplies and equipment.
Replace toilet floats, faucets, fluorescent and standard light bulbs, and fuses.
Make simple repairs to doors, windows, jalousies, stairways, venetian blinds, chairs, sprinkler systems, and other school facilities and equipment.
Operate heavy-duty industrial cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, and floor polishers.
Remove spots and stains from carpets and may operate a shampoo machine to clean carpets.
May be in charge of janitorial supplies and equipment for the school and assist with taking inventories.
