About The Position

ABM is seeking a reliable and experienced School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college, or university campus. The role may be suitable for someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education. On-the-job training is provided, and no prior experience or high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required. The position includes cleaning and maintaining classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and other assigned areas. The employee must follow established safety, security, compliance, and quality procedures and communicate with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers. Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
No experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.

Prior customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain assigned areas, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Notify the lead cleaner or manager when minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, manually or with hand trucks.
Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, and perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
Maintain restroom cleanliness, including cleaning and polishing as needed.
Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.
