About The Position

ABM is seeking a reliable and experienced School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college, or university campus. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and following safety, security, compliance, and quality procedures established by ABM, clients, and regulatory authorities. No prior experience or degree is required, and on-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.

Nice To Haves

• Prior customer service experience.
• One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
• Use chemical cleaners and power equipment according to procedures to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify the lead cleaner or manager when minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using cleaning solutions, sponges, and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Maintain the cleanliness of restrooms, cleaning and polishing them as needed.
• Comply with company, client, and regulatory safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures.
