About The Position

The School Custodial Cleaner performs general cleaning duties in assigned areas of a K-12 school, college, or university campus. The position involves cleaning and maintaining classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, stairways, and other designated spaces, using chemical cleaners and power equipment according to procedures. On-the-job training is provided; no prior experience or high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.

The role may also involve seasonal outdoor tasks and moving items to clean designated areas. Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Check trash receptacles regularly and empty them as needed.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damaging floors and fixtures.
• Notify the lead cleaner or manager about the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, coworkers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces, such as woodwork and stainless-steel surfaces.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness, including cleaning and polishing as needed.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.
