About The Position

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a part-time School Crossing Guard. The position helps ensure the safe passage of school-aged children, parents, and other pedestrians going to and from school. The guard facilitates pedestrian crossings in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) guidelines and Sheriff's Office policies and directives. The position works in the field at an assigned post and requires the employee to provide transportation to that post and personal clothing other than the Sheriff's Office-issued polo-style shirts. Guards must complete required training and certifications and be available Monday through Friday during morning and afternoon hours. Applicants must submit a notarized Background Investigation Waiver with their application; failure to provide it disqualifies the application. Social security and birth or naturalization documents, as well as academic credentials, are required during employment processing. External applicants undergo a thorough background investigation, which may take three to six months, and selected candidates receive a conditional offer and must complete a medical examination and drug screening. Candidates must comply with the Agency's Tattoo and Body Ornamentation Policy and disclose tattoos and body ornamentation when applying. The Sheriff's Office is a drug-free workplace and an equal opportunity employer, and encourages applications from military veterans and their families.
