About The Position

Under the general supervision of the School Crossing Guard Supervisor, the part-time School Crossing Guard guides and escorts children across marked crosswalks on busy streets during peak school hours, using an LED Stop Paddle and safety vest. The role also includes counting children at the assigned crosswalk each day, reporting crosswalk or school signage that needs maintenance, handling on-site customer complaints, and dressing appropriately for the weather. Guards may be required to work at any site with limited notice.

Requirements

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a telephone.
• Must have reliable transportation to work at any school crossing site with limited notice.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must be able to stand for the period of time required at the work site.
• Must be able to hear and see.
• Must work around outside traffic and in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Previous related experience is preferred.
• The position is described as ideal for retired persons.
