About The Position
School Crossing Guards play an important role in helping children cross their assigned and marked crosswalk safely, both to and from school.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
- Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid)
Nice To Haves
- Law Enforcement personnel with comparable training or experience may be used on an as needed basis to fill in for an absent guard.
Responsibilities
- Arrive at their assigned position in a timely manner.
- Have all issued and required equipment ready to be used.
- Stop traffic as natural “gaps” appear.
- Keep traffic stopped and continually observe the crosswalk and surrounding area for hazards before, during and after children cross.
- Report any Hazards, Reckless Driving or Safety violations to their supervisor when it is safe to do so.
- Perform related work as required.
