2026-27 School Counselor
About The Position
SMART Management and BridgePrep Academy are seeking a compassionate, highly organized, and student-centered School Counselor to support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development. The counselor provides direct and group support, helps coordinate student interventions and crisis responses, engages with families and community resources, and implements schoolwide programs that promote a positive school climate. The role works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and student support teams within a network of 21 charter schools in Florida. It emphasizes timely, confidential documentation, data-informed advocacy, and faithful implementation of intervention plans. Year 1 success measures include addressing and documenting at least 90% of student support referrals promptly and professionally, implementing student support plans with fidelity, and receiving positive staff and family feedback about responsiveness, empathy, and service quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid or eligible Florida School Counselor Certification.
- Exceptional listening, empathy, crisis intervention, and organizational skills, and deep alignment with the organization’s mission.
- Successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field; eligible for a salary supplement.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to students experiencing academic, social-emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Monitor student intervention plans, support MTSS frameworks, and respond promptly and professionally to student crises and referrals.
- Partner with families, facilitate support meetings, share resources, and communicate clearly about student progress.
- Implement campus-wide character development initiatives, guidance lessons, and social-emotional learning activities to foster a positive school climate.
- Maintain meticulous, confidential student documentation.
- Participate in school leadership check-ins, professional development, and coaching sessions.
