About The Position

This position is for a School Counselor/School Psychologist at the Timony Grammar School 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) Gr. 3-6 After-School Program. The program runs approximately 2.5 hours per program day, Monday through Thursday/Friday, with additional time for planning, potential remote programming, workshops, and other duties. The program is tentatively scheduled from October 5th, 2026, to June 3rd, 2027. The role involves working with students, providing academic and career readiness support, and collaborating with program staff and partners.

Requirements

  • Certified, team-oriented counselor/teacher in Methuen Public Schools preferred.
  • Knowledge of/experience with 21 st CCLC Program a plus.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Familiar with MA Curriculum Frameworks including Common Core & 21 st CCLC SAYO requirements.
  • Successful experience working with second language, LEP, SPED, at-risk or struggling students.
  • Excellent organizational skills and dedication to improving academic standards of all students.
  • Ability to work with college & career readiness focus, and in collaboration with program partners.
  • First Aid certification a plus.
  • Experience in implementing lessons & utilizing the district's access to curriculum-TRAILS to Wellness.
  • Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual experience preferred and ability to speak Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with site coordinator & teachers, and check-in/monitor student progress with emphasis on Newcomers/ELs.
  • Provide input to project-based proposals & curriculum templates for enrichment/remote activities.
  • Assist with meals program and parent pick-up/bus.
  • Attend staff meetings, field trips, workshops, & family events as planned by Site Coord., and/or the program manager.
  • Assist with DESE surveys (SAYOs) and other required documents in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records and follow-up with students regarding consistent attendance.
  • Work with students in college and career planning.
  • Communicate with coordinators, teachers, and parents about program and student progress.
  • Implement lessons & utilize the district's access to curriculum - TRAILS to Wellness.
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned by site coordinator, and/or the program manager.
  • Ensure excellent attendance.
