About The Position

This position is for a Bilingual Family Liaison (BFL) or Building Based Educator (BBE) within the Timony 21st Century After-School Program, serving students in grades 3-6. The program aims to provide engaging, inquiry-based, and student-centered activities, including project-based learning, STEAM, Esports, and ELA curriculum support. Responsibilities include assisting with student activities, administering surveys, supporting the snack program, communicating with families, and collaborating with core content teachers for academic interventions. The role requires excellent attendance and the ability to work with technology like iPads and Chromebooks, as well as potentially driving a program van for field trips. The program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant.

Requirements

  • Certified/nearly certified Bilingual Family Liaison (BFL) preferred/Building Based Educator (BBE).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior successful experience as a 21st CCLC Prog. teacher/staff is a plus.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Familiar with MA Curriculum Frameworks including Common Core (Gr. 3-6) & 21st CCLC SAYO requirements.
  • Ability to drive program/MPS van.
  • Successful experience working with ELs, SPED, at-risk or struggling students.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Unwavering commitment and dedication to improving academic standards and personal development of all program students.
  • A deep desire to work with educationally underserved student populations and their families.
  • Ability to work under health and fitness programming conditions.
  • Ability to work with iPads/Chromebooks, Newcomers, Esports, and STEAM & Gr. 3-6 ELA curriculum.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Ability to speak Spanish required for BFL and a plus for BBE.
  • Completed SEI endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with teachers to engage students in creative, inquiry-based, interdisciplinary, hands-on/remote, and student-centered activities.
  • Ability to work with iPads/Chromebooks.
  • Ability to drive program/MPS van for field trips, if needed.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.
  • Support project-based and/or service-learning enrichment activities for students.
  • Administer required student SAYO-Y surveys.
  • Assist with the snack program, parent pick-up, and transportation.
  • Ability to translate in Spanish (required for BFL, a plus for BBE).
  • Attend staff meetings, field trips, workshops, and family events.
  • Complete pre and post SAYOs and other required documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with core content teachers to plan and execute academic interventions.
  • Provide substitute coverage for absent staff members, including coverage for staff meetings.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records of attendance and snacks.
  • Follow up with students regarding consistent attendance.
  • Work with students in health & fitness, STEAM, and ELA focused programs.
  • Communicate regularly with site coordinator, program manager, school personnel, and parents (BFL).
  • BFL to initiate and maintain contact with program families.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the site coordinator and/or Program Manager.

  • As determined by the Program Manager of Community Programs (Program Manager); approx. 2.5-3 hrs./prog. day, Mondays through Thursdays/Fri. (extra time for workshops and other duties may be required).
