About The Position

This position is responsible for the implementation of interventions that develop a positive, safe, and orderly environment for the students and staff of Fairwold Academy. The position ensures processes are efficient and followed with fidelity, specific to Safe Schools initiatives, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), de-escalation and school safety programs, and crisis management (Mandt).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in ABA, education, social services, behavioral health, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field is required.
  • Three years of experience working with youth involved in youth mental and/or behavioral health, juvenile justice, alternative education, or related field involving at-risk children, youth, or young adults
  • Experience working with a special needs population in a school setting and/or mental health organization
  • Understanding of emotional and behavioral disorders, mental health issues, autism, developmental delays, and intellectual disabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of educational staff to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Excellent ability to conduct SCM trainings, convey content and skill assessments, and provide training to the staff according to the staff development schedule
  • Demonstrated knowledge of School-Wide Positive Behavior Support systems including PBIS data systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practices
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence students with behavioral and social-emotional needs
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data; facilitate problem-solving meetings
  • Demonstrated skills with computers, data systems, and electronic reports
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Implement school safety initiatives and protocols including but not limited to school safety, evacuation, fire drills, emergency drills, facilities safety, staff training, and other programs in conjunction with local law enforcement.
  • Provide efficiency reports for the Administrative Team.
  • Manage the operational aspects of the school PBIS program.
  • Implement protocols in the school PBIS handbook.
  • Enforce the school Code of Conduct to reflect PBIS language and expectations.
  • Facilitate and model school-wide expectations and rewards for meaningful incentives and consequences.
  • Manage all student contracts for all activities.
  • Attend and facilitate all Tier-level PBIS data problem-solving meetings.
  • Ensure data collection is prepared for analysis.
  • Monitor student progress at each level of the intervention system.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the School Store and special events.
  • Assist the Principal with the operational aspects of student discipline issues.
  • Manage the operational aspects of the school’s transportation, including safe arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Collect incident information on school district transportation.
  • Prepare reports and advise administration.
  • Maintain exceptional relationships with transportation companies, transportation staff, and parents.
  • Be physically present on grounds to ensure students are safely transported home after dismissal, including when transportation issues arise.
  • Always provide support to the school community to maintain an orderly school environment.
  • Provide mobile support to students in crisis or those students demonstrating non-compliant behavior. Model and support positive intervention strategies. Reintegrate students back into the program.
  • Supervise the environment for safe and orderly conduct at arrival and dismissal, lunchroom, recess, assemblies, and other activities.
  • Train the de-escalation protocol for all school employees.
  • Assist with budget preparation as directed.
  • Monitors efficiency of school-wide safety protocols. Provides efficiency reports to the Director of Climate and Culture and Executive Director.
  • Manages the operational aspects of all transportation issues, collects student incident reports, communicates with administration, staff, parents, and transportation companies. Prepares reports for the Administrative Team.
  • Implements all operational aspects of the PBIS program; models a positive climate, creates incident reports, monitors student incident data and creates reports, prepares for and facilitates problem-solving meetings, ensures school-wide expectations are implemented; participates in the continuous development of the PBIS program.
  • Provides support to the school community at all times to maintain an orderly school environment; provides mobile support to students in crisis or those students demonstrating non-compliant behavior; models and supports positive intervention strategies; reintegrates students back into the program.
  • Serves as a coach for PBIS classroom observations and feedback.
  • Serves as a Mandt Trainer and provides Mandt instruction at mandated professional development sessions.
  • Assists the Administrative Team with enforcing the Student Code of Conduct in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties, special assignments, and projects as assigned.
